2020 A Vision for Aged Care in Australia

From 2001 to 2021 the proportion of Australians over 65 years will increase from 2.4 million (12.5% of the total population) to 4.2 million (18%). By 2021, there will be close to 1.7 million people aged over 75 years, and 480,000 over the age of 85.

This booklet looks at aged care issues today and how we need to address these problems as the number of people needing care increases in the years ahead.

The Myer Foundation vision is to reform  Australia's aged care system, ensuring the growing population of older Australians in 2020 can confidently access the care and support they need, this vision is supported by a five point plan which includes community care, housing, administration, funding and industry planning. Click here to download booklet...
