What level of care is required?
Everyone entering a residential aged care facility either permanently or for respite care needs a care assessment to be completed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).
Getting this ACAT assessment can take up to 12 months. This is where Seniors Pathway's knowledge of the aged-care placement process can help. In some cases we can help speed up the assessment through industry contacts.
ACAT teams comprise doctors, nurses, social workers and other health professionals who visit you or your loved one at home or in hospital.
The teams assess medical, physical, psychological and social needs and approve either high-level or low-level residential care, depending on the requirements.
Once you or your loved one have been assessed as eligible for residential aged care by the ACAT, you can then start looking for the best residential care facility to suit your needs.
